Ruth Matsutani, 93 of North Platte passed away February 9, 2014 at her home. She was born October 15, 1920 in Westminster, CO to Kakutaro and Nobuyo Shimoda Nakagawa. Ruth grew up in Westminster, CO and on April 26, 1950 she married Masa Matsutani. She has lived and worked on the family farm for 74 years. Ruth was a 4-H leader, member of the Nichols Ladies Aid and the Episcopal Church where she taught Sunday school. She was involved in beginning of the Hershey Senior Center and she was a certified nursing assistant for many years as she cared for many as a private nurse. Survivors include her children, Barbara (Tom) Spettel, Norma Romero, Kent (Mary) Matsutani, and Carolyn Matsutani; grandchildren, Genny, Becky, John and Jocelyn; great-grandchildren, Kayla, John, Kahia and Gabby; and 2 sisters, Helen Budzinski and Sara Soto. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Masa; sister, Julie; brothers, John, Joe, and Paul. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 15, 2014 at the Episcopal Church. Burial will be at the North Platte Cemetery. Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, February 14, 2014 with the family receiving friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Carpenter Memorial Chapel which is in charge of arrangements.
