IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ardith Joyce
Sheets Clark
December 5, 1934 – October 31, 2024
Ardith J. Sheets Clark, 89, of North Platte formerly of Brady passed away on October 31, 2024, at Great Plains Regional Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.
Ardith Joyce was born to Lloyd and Lois (Avers) Nansel on December 5, 1934. She spent her childhood on the family farm attending country school in the Arnold area and graduated from Arnold High School. On October 25, 1951 she married Robert E. Sheets at the Congregational Church in Laramie, WY. Bob and Ardith were blessed with six children. Ardith worked alongside Bob, farming and ranching south of Arnold and later on Garfield Table. After Bob's death on June 8, 1969; Ardith continued to farm and ranch with her young family. Ardith met Dale J. Clark and the two were married on December 31, 1976 at Garfield United Methodist Church near Arnold. This marriage added three more children to Ardith's life. Dale and Ardith blended their two families into one, which was the greatest gift they ever gave to their family. The two would farm and ranch together south of Brady until their retirement. After Dale's death in 2016 Ardith stayed on the farm until February of 2018 when she moved to Regency Court in North Platte.
Ardith joined the Garfield Methodist Church on May 5th 1948. She later joined the Banner United Methodist church when she moved to Brady. She belonged and held offices in the Guiding Hands, Garfield School, and Banner UMW. She was a frequent blood donor and volunteered at the bloodmobile. Ardith also served on the Lincoln County Election Board for over 50 years.
Throughout her life Ardith's days were filled with raising kids, crops and cattle. She worked hard every day and lived through many difficult times. She welcomed her always growing family into her home where there were always chocolate chip cookies in the freezer. Family get-togethers were always hosted at the farm where the house was full of family. She kept a large vegetable garden every summer and canned her produce. She always had a knitting project at hand and made blankets for all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She had a strong faith in God and passed that faith onto her children.
Ardith leaves behind a very large and loving family that will miss her greatly. Her children, Mike and Heidi Sheets of North Platte, NE, Patty and Ike Miller of North Platte, NE, Chris and Sandra Sheets of Castle Rock, CO, Joyce and Rick Buhlke of Juniata, NE, John and Jeannie Sheets of Gothenburg, NE, Clint and Christy Sheets of Wallace, NE, Rick and Coleen Clark of Gothenburg, NE, Susan and Randy Schroeder of Gibbon, NE, and Laurie Clark of Gothenburg, NE; 19 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter due in March; her sisters, Shirley Bassett of Lenexa, KS and Theda Coleman of Broken Bow, NE; her brother Ralph Nansel of Arnold, NE; many nieces and nephews; and friends.
