Arthur "Dale" Johnson, 89, of North Platte, NE passed away on Monday, April 3, 2023 at Linden Court.
Dale was born on November 17, 1933 in Wellfleet, NE the son of Edward Earl and Helen Barbara (Szyszkowski) Johnson.
Dale was a graduate of North Platte high school class of 1951. He married Beverly Jean Blum on June 10, 1956 in Grant, NE and together they had four children. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving from 1956 to 1962. Dale worked as a central office technician with Northwestern Bell Telephone for 41 years, retiring in 1993. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, North Platte Woodcarvers, Telephone Pioneers, and RSVP. He enjoyed woodcarving and fishing as well as finding a good bargain at local rummage sales. He loved being a grandpa and spending time with all his grandchildren.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 66 years, Beverly; children, Randy (Karen) Johnson of Windsor, CO, Kathy (John) Wroot of North Platte, Steve (Barbie) Johnson of Raytown, MO, and Susan (Buck) Hood of North Platte; grandchildren, Scott Johnson, Kate Johnson, Casey (Brooke) Wroot, Kylie Wroot, Kade Wroot, Emily Johnson, Jessica Johnson, and Jenna Hood; brother-in-law, Jim Blum; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Dorris Stear; brothers, David and Daniel Johnson.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at First United Methodist Church (service will be livestreamed on Carpenter Memorial Chapel website). Family requests that casual attire be worn for the service. Burial will follow in the Wellfleet Cemetery. Memorial book signing will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, April 10 th at Carpenter Memorial Chapel, which has been entrusted with the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to First United Methodist Church.
