Billy Joe Vogel, born November 24, 1944, passed away on March 17, 2026 leaving behind a legacy of hard work, dedication, and deep love for his family.

Billy was raised on a farm near Arnold, Nebraska, by his loving parents, Fred and Nova Vogel. Growing up in rural Nebraska instilled in him the strong work ethic and values that would guide him throughout his life—values he proudly passed on to his children and grandchildren.

He served his country honorably in the United States Army as a military police officer for two years. Following his service, Billy began a long and meaningful career with Union Pacific, where he worked for 35 years. During that time, he built not only a career but also many lasting friendships that he cherished throughout his life.

Billy is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Kathleen “Kitty” Vogel. He is also lovingly remembered by his sons, Larry (and wife Debbra) and Kiley. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Edward Stuart (and wife Bridget), Brandon Vogel (and wife Victoria), Charles Vogel (and wife Hannah), Ben Vogel (and wife Thasha), Christa Knowles (and husband David), Rainy Vogel, and Waylon Vogel; as well as Eileen Vogel, mother of Rainy and Waylon. He is also survived by 15 great-grandchildren.

Billy will be remembered for his quiet strength, unwavering dedication to his family, and the enduring example he set for those who knew and loved him.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
