Brian Scusa, 67, of North Platte, Nebraska, died on September 2, 2026, in North Platte. He was born on July 24,1959, in Syracuse, New York.
He graduated from Cicero High School in New York in 1977, He enlisted in the United States Army and worked as a military police officer from 1977-1980. He had a long career in law enforcement, worked at UNL police department, Keith County Sheriff’s office and Holdrege police department. He volunteered as a firefighter and paramedic in Paxton and Crete, Nebraska. Brian also taught CPR and First Aid for the American Red Cross in Lincoln, for 15 years. He was so proud of the time he worked as a police officer and the time he served in the military.
In his spare time, he enjoyed cross word puzzles, collected planes, ships, battleships and tanks. Brian and Kathy enjoyed camping at Halsey, shooting and fishing. Brian spent countless hours walking all over North Platte with his dogs.
Brian will be remembered with love by those closest to him and by all who shared in his life. His passing is deeply felt, and his memory will remain cherished by his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Scusa and daughter, JuliAnna (Mike) Abramson and his dogs KiKi and Wags.
He will be missed by many other family and friends.
Brian was preceded in death by his parents Alvin and Priscilla (Kear), nephew Michael Scusa, who was killed in action in Afghanistan and his faithful and loyal companion, Leesi.
May Brian Scusa’s memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved him, and may his life continue to be remembered with affection and gratitude.
