Carolyn Janette Nelson, 58 of North Platte, NE passed away on December 2, 2020 at Good Samaritan in Kearney, NE.

She was born on June 15, 1962 in Sweetwater, TX to James and Evelyn Vaughn. She grew up in Sweetwater, TX and Alexander City Alabama.

Carolyn was united in marriage to Gary Nelson on June 22, 1982 in Las Vegas, NV. After which the couple lived in Kearns, UT. Then Castle Rock, CO and finally settling in North Platte, NE.

She was a diehard George Jones fan; and was always happy to see you and would give you the shirt off her back for anyone at any time. Carolyn loved spending time with her family and always just wanted to sit and visit. She loved working in kitchen's and making people smile. As a devoted wife, mom and grandma her family's needs always came first. Her laugh was so contagious and all her own.

Carolyn is survived by her husband and soulmate, Gary Nelson Sr. ; children, Chris Baker of Colorado Springs, CO, Amy Divine of North Platte, NE, Amanda (Bob) Cowley of Stapleton, Christina (David) Diaz of North Platte, NE, Gary Lee (Steph) Nelson Jr. of Stapleton, NE; her sisters, Daphine (Moody) Thomason of Snyder, TX, Cathy (Raymond) Gomez of Grand Prairie, TX and Wanda (Charles) Cobb of Snyder, TX; her babie r bear (North Platte,NE) Buddy; and 14 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, James and Evelyn Vaughn; brother, Bo Vaughn; sisters, Melody Robertson and Dawn Garcia; and Theador B. Bear and Susie Q. Bear.

Graveside Services will be 3:00 p.m., Friday, December 18, 2020 at Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens with Words of Comfort by Doug Stafford. Visitation will be one hour prior to the graveside service at Carpenter Memorial Chapel.

Memorials may be made to the family to be designated at a later date.  The service will be live streamed via Carpenter Memorial Chapel's Facebook page for those that cannot attend.
