IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Clyde Laverne
Robertson
March 20, 1935 – April 1, 2025
Clyde "LaVerne" Robertson, age 90, of North Platte, NE, went to his heavenly home on April 1, 2025 at Linden Court.
He was born on March 20, 1935, the son of Clyde and Leota Robertson, in Sidney, NE. He grew up in Gurley and Lodgepole, NE, and after graduating high school from Lodgepole in 1953 pursued a career in education. He earned a B.S. in education from Kearney State College in 1957, an M.S. from the University of New Mexico in 1964, and an Ed. S. in educational administration from the University of Nebraska in 1969.
He began his career in education as a science teacher in Grant, NE. While living in Grant, he met Karen Kinner at the doctor's office where she was employed. LaVerne and Karen were married at Imperial, NE in 1959, and together they had two children.
LaVerne eventually left the classroom and moved into school administration. He served as superintendent of schools at Sutherland, NE, Julesburg, CO, Salida, CO, and Tryon, NE. Before retiring from Tryon in 1997, he helped devise a school improvement program plan to gain and maintain accreditation for the "necessarily small school". Throughout his career, he set the standard for hard work and dedicated service.
In retirement, LaVerne was able to direct his time to travel with family and woodworking. Many family members have keepsake furniture made by his loving hands. LaVerne took up carving, and was known for the creativity of his caricatures, chip carving, and bark carving.
LaVerne was predeceased by his parents, Clyde and Leota; stepfather Ernest Meyer; daughter, Shelly Adee; brother and sister-in-law, Keith and Helen Robertson; sister, Norma Howitt; and nephew, Scott Howitt. Those left to cherish LaVerne's memory are his son, Stuart Robertson; son-in-law Eric Adee; grandsons Daniel (Callie) Adee and Joshua Adee; great grandchildren, Finley, Gatlin, and Fletcher; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews; and countless friends.
