Danny D. Parrett
Danny Dale Parrett, 65, departed this earth to be with his heavenly father while lovingly surrounded by his family on April 11th, 2013 at Great Plains Regional Medical Center in North Platte, NE. Danny, the oldest of three children, was born in Berea, Kentucky to Calvin and Beatrice (Gabbard) Parrett. He attended Northeastern Wayne High School in Lynn, Indiana.
Danny proudly served his country in the Vietnam War as a Recon soldier for 2 years until returning home to his family in July 1969. During his brave service, he received the Purple Heart and The Vietnam Gallantry Cross with palm ribbon for deeds of heroic conduct while fighting an enemy force.
In 1969, Danny was united in marriage in Clintwood, VA to Jo Evelyn Green-Baker of Richmond, IN. To that union was born four beautiful children: Sarah, Danielle, Joseph, and Preston.
In 1984, he moved to North Platte to continue his 25 years employment as a production manager for American Door Company. This is where he met his best friend Kimberly K. Tockey. They were joined in marriage on March 9, 1990 in North Platte.
Danny dearly loved all 5 of his children. He was an extremely hard worker and was a hero in the eyes of his children. He loved the outdoors, had a great passion for hunting and fishing, and most of all spending time with his animals. He loved family gatherings and spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He was known for his gift giving, especially suckers.
Danny was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Kimberly; first wife Jo Evelyn Parrett; children Sarah Parrett, Danielle Kittle (Rob), Joseph Parrett (Shannon) all of North Platte and Preston Parrett (Heather) of Maxwell, NE; siblings Gary Parrett and Beverly McKnight of Richmond, IN; grandchildren Samantha, Boston, Calvin, Rachel, Ashlyn, Andy, Hannah, Evelyn, Rylee, Samson; great-grandchildren; Sarah Jane and Brennan; mother and father-in-law Tom and Eleanor Tockey; and dear friend, Bradley Tockey and 49 nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 1-6 pm on Sunday April 14th at Carpenters Memorial Chapel, 1616 West B Street, North Platte, NE. Funeral Services will be held Monday, April 15th, 2 pm at West End Chapel, 1001 West 8th Street. Burial will be at Plainview Cemetery southwest of Maxwell, NE.
