Darlene Jane Lyman was born on 06/21/37 to George and Fern Booth in North Platte, Nebraska.
Darlene graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in journalism and a minor in business administration from Colorado Women’s College in Denver, Colorado and was a member of Beta Phi Gamma Honorary Journalism Society and Alpha Pi Epsilon Honorary Business Society at the college.
She was very active with the Chamber of Commerce including Hostesses and Retail Steering Committee. She was a member of the Nebraska Press Women's Association and the Lincoln County Wildlife Gun Club where she served on the board of directors. She worked for eleven years at the Nebraska Game & Parks Commission where she met the love of her life, Nicholas “Nick: Lyman.
Darlene started out as an advertising account representative for the North Platte Telegraph in 1970. She was promoted to retail sales manager in 1975, then served as advertising director from 1978 to 1981. She earned many state and national awards during her time with the Telegraph. In 1983, after she left the Telegraph, she started an advertising agency. Lyman & Associates was an advertising and public relations consultation business that was very involved in the Home Show over the years. She served two terms on the Nebraskland Days board of directors and was a president of the Downtown Merchants Association.
She enjoyed bowling, trap shooting, hunting and fishing with friends and family.
Preceding her in death are her parents George and Fern Booth, brothers Danny Booth and Jack Booth, and Nick Lyman.
Survivors include nieces Kelli Booth of Huntsville Alabama and Mykin Roberts of Plano TX as well as step-niece Janet Greder of Wayne NE and Randy Holz of Kearney NE
Carpenter Memorial Chapel has been entrusted with the arrangements.
