Diane Lynn Johnson, a cherished member of the North Platte community, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2026, at her son Stacey’s house in North Platte. Born on August 14, 1949, in Kearney, Nebraska, Diane was a devoted daughter, sister, mother, and “Nanny,” whose life reflected kindness and a deep love for her family.
Diane’s heart for serving others was evident through her years as a waitress. She had a way of making everyone feel welcomed and important, building meaningful friendships and touching the lives of so many along the way.
On August 12, 1967, Diane married Albin “Chuck” Charlie Johnson in North Platte, a union that brought both pride and joy as the foundation of her family life. Above all else, Diane treasured her roles as a mom and “Nanny” to her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Diane viewed these as her proudest accomplishments. Her caring heart and unwavering love for her family will continue to live on in their hearts.
Diane is survived by her loving children: Steve (Tracy) Johnson of Lincoln, Stacey (Tiffany) Johnson of North Platte, and Tami Bongle of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Trevor Johnson, Jordie (Hunter) McGinnis, Cooper (Zita) Johnson, Carter Johnson, Carsen Johnson, Maddie (Taner) Holland, Taylor Bongle, Daniel Bongle, Maggie Cook, and Alex (Sophie) Cook. She was also a beloved “Nanny” to Charlie, Bentley, Banks, Mabel, Maryn, Odessa, and Briella. Diane’s family circle extended to her siblings, Linda Janachek and Jeff Olsen, both of North Platte, her sister-in-law, Charlene Danczak of Cheyenne, Wyoming, and special friend Betty Olson of Seward, Nebraska, as well as numerous other family members and friends.
Diane was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Chuck, her brother Robert Epler and many uncles, aunts, and cousins.
