Donna Jean (Wagner) Matthews 89, passed away on January 3, 2021 at home in North Platte, NE. She was born on March 1, 1931 in Bolivar, MO to Walter and Lois (Simcox) Wagner. The family later moved to North Platte where Donna attended school.

On August 15, 1948 she was united in marriage to Keith Matthews and they were married for 72 years. She worked at Merle Norman Cosmetics for many years.

The couple enjoyed square dancing and ballroom dancing over the years. They traveled extensively after retirement with their good friends, Joe and Lucille Pelton. Donna also volunteered for several years after retirement at Great Plains Health. She was also a member of Eastern Star for 55 years.

Donna is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Lois Wagner; and in laws, Charles and Carrie Matthews.

She is survived by her husband, Keith; sister in law, Cheryl Matthews; and son, Larry Matthews, all of North Platte; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, January 7, 2021 at Carpenter Memorial Chapel with Chaplain Ned Cooper officiating. Burial will follow at North Platte City Cemetery. Visitation and book signing will be on Wednesday, January 6 from noon until 8:00 p.m. at Carpenter Memorial Chapel.

The family would like to thank the Great Plains Home Health, Callahan Cancer Center, and the nurses and doctors who attended Donna.
