Earlene (Ruff) Kuhl, 100, of North Platte, NE formerly of Valentine, NE passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 11, 2023 at Linden Court.

Earlene was born on December 16, 1922 in North Bend, NE the daughter of Earl and Lula (Settles) Ruff. She grew up in Keya Paha County attending rural school and graduated with her bachelor's in teaching degree from Chadron State College in 1968. She began her teaching career in 1940 and was a teacher and librarian in several rural schools and in Valentine for over 50 years, retiring in 1990. She married Fred Kuhl on July 22, 1943 in Valentine and together they had a daughter, Connee. Earlene lived in Valentine for most of her life until moving to North Platte in 1999. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Presbyterian Church.

Those left to cherish her memory are her grandson, Chris (Suzanne) Sedlmajer of Rochester, MN; granddaughter, Amy (Rob) Smith of North Platte; great-grandchildren, Keifer, Zack, Jarrett, Caleb, Jack, and Lyndee.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Fred; daughter, Connee; sisters, Clara Maddox, Betty Cearfoss, and Vera Owens.

A private family graveside service and inurnment will be held at a later date at Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens. Carpenter Memorial Chapel has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the family for future designation.
