Elaine Y. Leighton, age 67, of North Platte, Nebraska, passed away Thursday, June 26, 2025, at The Maples at Centennial.

Elaine was born March 21, 1957, in North Platte to William and Barbara (Hupfer) Leighton.

Elaine spent her childhood in North Platte before moving to Montrose, Colorado and then Pueblo, Colorado. There she graduated from high school. She then moved back to Nebraska with her family. She spent her adult life wearing many different hats, but spending the majority of her working life working for various department stores. Those who knew her admired her unwavering nature and adamant work ethic, as well as her kindness and caring that informed all her actions.

Those left to cherish Elaine's memory are her son Jeff Werklund as well as many other friends and family.

She is preceded in death by her parents William and Barbara and sister Caroline Kiger.

Memorial services will be held at Carpenter Memorial Chapel on July 2, 2025, at 1 p.m., with burial following at North Platte Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family for future designation.
