Francis L. ""Fritz"" Rudloff

Francis L. ""Fritz"" Rudloff, age 99, of North Platte, passed away June 27, 2013 at Linden Court in North Platte. He was born May 12, 1914 at Sheldon, IA to Henry H. and Anna (Henningfelt) Rudloff. He graduated from Crawford High School in the class of 1936 and later farmed in the area. In 1942, he served in the United States Army during WW II being sent to Hawaii and returning to Officers Candidate School. While a First Lieutenant in Italy, he was wounded, and received a purple heart. He was united in marriage to Marjorie Wasserburger on June 2, 1943 After his discharge, he owned and operated a Sinclair Service Station in Riverton, WY and later worked for the Bureau of Reclamation in Riverton, Glendo, WY and Page, AZ. After retirement, they moved to North Platte in 1990. Fritz was an avid musician and grew up playing with his family band. No matter where he traveled he always looked for a band to be a part of. He played at the senior center and care centers with different groups for several years. He loved traveling, sightseeing, playing bridge, and taking care of his home and garden. Fritz was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Newcomers Club, NARF, Eagles and DAV. He is survived by his two sons, David (Lynda) Rudloff of Tucson, AZ and Dennis (Mary) Rudloff of Rockville, MD; his daughter, Mary (Jim) Backenstose of North Platte; grandchildren, Dave (Jill) Rudloff, Lori (Lenny) Leonard, Karen Rudloff, Daniel Kennel, Brian (Kelly) Rudloff, Cory Backenstose, Jennifer (Tim) Schultz and Krystina Hinman; great grandchildren, Jace Kennel, Loryn & Leah Leonard, Kaitlyn & Alyssa Rudloff, Gabryelle Rudloff, Zoe and Peyton Backenstose, Matt and Mallory Schultz and Carter and Kinsley Hinman. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marjorie; grandson, Chris Kennel; brothers, Hank, Herman and Joe Rudloff; sisters, Martha Coats, Anna Rose and Mary Fritts. Online condolences may be shared at www.carpentermemorial.com. Rosary will be 7:00 pm Monday at Carpenter Memorial Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church with the Reverend James Novakowski as celebrant. Burial will be at the North Platte Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 pm Sunday and 8:30 am till the rosary on Monday. Carpenter Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
