Gene L. Johnston, 76, of North Platte, NE passed away peacefully on Monday, June 17, 2024 at his home surrounded by his wife and son.  He was born on June 30, 1947 in North Platte, NE the son of Clyde F. and Mary Maxine (Oberg) Johnston.

Gene attended St. Patrick's Catholic High School in North Platte.  He was married to Angeles Hernandez in 1978 and together they had four children.  Gene worked as an owner and project manager for twenty years with Oxbow Construction, LLC.  His true love was being a cowboy, and he enjoyed participating in rodeo events.  Gene will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and friend.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Angeles; sons, Rowdy and Jesse; daughter, Hope; and a sister, Rita Johnston.

He was predeceased by his parents; son, Lee; and sister, Della Snyder.

A private graveside service will be held at Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens.

Memorials may be made to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church.

Carpenter Memorial Chapel has been entrusted with the arrangements.
