GEORGE M. WELSH
January 8, 1927 - March 10, 2018
George M Welsh. Sr, 91, retired Postmaster, has a permanent change of address, Heaven. His time on earth expired March 10th, 2018 at the Pioneer Memorial Nursing Home in Mullen. He was looking forward to this final promotion. George was born on January 8, 1927 in Brule, marrying Mac McDermott on December 4th 1948.
After retirement, George spent the next 30 plus years volunteering for the benefit of others. Loving children, he was blessed to serve Jesus at Maranatha Bible Camp. He was honored to serve our country in the Army as a WWII Veteran, a Chaplin with the American Legion and a member of the American Legion Honor Guard; Awana Sparky's Club, Boy Scouts, Youth Baseball Coach & the community.
His family and friends were blessed to enjoy his wit, humor, laughter, love and sacrificially-giving manner. (Always being the last one to take a bath…burr!) He was a mentor to us all.
George was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, his son Stephen, martyred for Christ in the jungle of Columbia, SA; his parents, & many family members and life-long friends.
George is survived by his children: George Jr. (Sandy) of Cozad, Betty (Chuck) Wretling of Littleton, Co, Peggy (Brad) Porath of Mullen, Ne & Patricia (Alan) Kackmeister of Austin, Tx, 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, Sister Alice Baily, Sister-in-Law Betty Halsey, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends.

Memorials are suggested to Maranatha Bible Camp or the Berean Church.  Online condolences may be shared at www.carpentermemorial.com .

Services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 19, 2018 at the Berean Church.  Burial will be at Ft. McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell with military honors.  Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. with family receiving friends Sunday at Carpenter Memorial Chapel, which is in care of arrangements.
