IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gloria Etta
Ruppert
October 30, 1943 – October 24, 2025
Gloria Etta Ruppert of Maxwell, passed away on October 24 ,2025, at Stone Hearth Estates in Gothenburg at the age of 81. Surrounded by her loving family.
She was born the eldest child to Roy and Flora (Denny) Law on October 30, 1943, in McCook. After graduating from Hayes County in 1961, Gloria married her high school sweetheart and long-time love, Allen Ruppert, on November 18, 1962, at the Evergreen Union Church in Hayes County, NE. The couple welcomed six children into their lives. Gloria lovingly dedicated those early years to nurturing them, embodying the true spirit of a patient and devoted mother and wife. The family moved to Maxwell in the early 70's and Gloria began working as the Village Clerk of Maxwell. Soon after, she decided to take a job which she surely loved as a cook at Maxwell Public School until 1991. Gloria joined her husband working at Overheard Door as a secretary, guiding and aiding the staff, including her husband until their retirement.
Gloria and Allen enjoyed traveling the world together, making lasting memories wherever they went, regardless of whether taking a simple camping trip (there were many) or taking glamorous cruises. Gloria was a devoted wife for 59 years, known by all for her kindness and her ever-present smile. Though it wasn't a side she showed often, her playful sassiness would shine through from time to time — whether with her signature thumbs-ups which all her children knew exactly what that meant, or her honest, "telling-it-like-it-is" attitude.
Gloria had a special affection for hummingbirds and gardening, especially her flower beds filled with beautiful flowers. She also loved embroidery, creating many beautiful tea towels over the years — each of her children now treasures their own collection. Her talent for canning and preserving was passed down to her children, and she had quite a knack for crossword puzzles as well.
She is survived by her children, Melanie (Samuel) Boon of Grand Island, Jadeen (Seth) Kucera of Maxwell, Doreen (Troy) Pedersen of Maxwell, Chuck Ruppert of Maxwell, and Coleen (David) Ragland of Savannah, MO; 19 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; sister, Evelyn Ryan of Montrose, CO; in-laws Della Fox, Wilber (Nancy) Ruppert, Bernie (Pam) Ruppert and Merna (Lester) Ebel: many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Preceding her in death are her parents; husband, Allen; brothers, Allen, and Marvin; daughter, Kay and son in-law Jeff Keith; great granddaughter, Jocelynn.
