Gordon Allen Gosnell, 83, of Maxwell, NE passed away peacefully on Monday, October 9, 2023 at North Platte Care Center.
Gordon was born on September 2, 1940 in Gothenburg, NE the son of Alfred and Maria (Madsen) Gosnell. He graduated from Maxwell High School in 1958, and married Sandra Anne Lyon in North Platte on October 23, 1960.
Gordon was hired by the Union Pacific Railroad as a pipefitter and retired as a supervisor in 2002. Along with railroading, Gordon bought a farm in 1977, and farmed and ranched up until just last year. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, and car racing. His passion was racing pigeons, which he did for over 35 years. He was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in North Platte and inducted into the North Platte Bowling Hall of Fame.
Those left to cherish Gordon's memory are his son, Chris (Amber) Gosnell of North Platte; grandson, Samuel Gosnell of North Platte; granddaughter, Juliet Gosnell of North Platte; brother, Alton (Marsha) Gosnell of North Platte; sister, Rojean (Darrell) Einspahr of North Platte; and numerous other family members and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sandra; and a daughter, Mindy.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 16, 2023 at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in North Platte with Rev. Patrick Sipes officiating. Burial will follow at Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family receiving friends will be from 2-6 p.m. on Sunday, October 15th at Carpenter Memorial Chapel, which has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Memorials in his memory may be made to the family for future designation.
