Helen V. Gilpin, 83, of North Platte, passed away Nov. 3, 2015 at her home. She was born Aug. 30, 1932 to Joe and Lena Bernadine (Polio) Rizzi at Alliance, NE. She graduated from Alliance St. Agnes Academy. Helen attended college at Sisters of St. Francis School of Nursing in Minot, ND, where she received her nursing degree on Sept. 16, 1953. On April 16, 1955, she was united in marriage to Orville G. Gilpin at Alliance. They lived in Ainsworth, where she was employed at Brown County Hospital, as head surgical nurse, retiring in 1996. In 2007, they moved to North Platte. She was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. She is survived by her son, Joseph Michael (Vickie) Gilpin of Overton; her daughter, Jean Marie Gilpin of North Platte (James Widger of Hayes Center); nieces and nephews, David and Mark Rizzi, Lynn and Lisa Rizzi and Larry Rizzi. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Orville on Oct. 25, 2014; and a brother, Joseph Rizzi. Online condolences may be shared at www.carpentermemorial.com. A memorial has been established in her memory. Cremation was chosen. Memorial services will be 10:30 am Monday, November 9, 2015 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with the Reverend C. P. Varghese at celebrant. Inurnment will be at Ft. McPherson National Cemetery.
