Helen Horst, 99, of North Platte, passed away on April 13, 2021 at North Platte, Nebraska.

She was born on May 15, 1921 the fourth child of six to Stephen and Michaelina Rendzak in Philadelphia, PA.

Helen graduated from The Helen Fleisher Vocational School of Philadelphia with a degree in Home Economics. She met her husband Arlo Sylvester Horst (WWII and Korean war veteran) of Mission, SD on a blind date in Philadelphia, and they were married November 10, 1951.

She moved to Mission, SD in 1951 where she resided until January 5, 2005. She moved to North Platte, NE and became the longest resident (16) years of Linden Estates Assisted Living Center.

Helen loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and ministered through prayer to dozens of residents and staff throughout the years.

She is survived by a half sister, Marie Rodney of Yardley, PA; daughter, Arlene (William) Markley of North Platte, NE; grandsons, Jeff (Sophie) from Grand Island, NE and Robbie Markley of North Platte, NE; great grandchildren, Hazel and Elliot Markley.

A private family funeral service was chosen. The burial will follow at North Platte City Cemetery.

Memorials are requested to the family to be designated at a later date.
