Ibbie Ann Majors, life-long resident of North Platte, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2024 at the age of 102 years old at Great Plains Health Hospital.
Mrs. Majors was born on May 2, 1921 in North Platte, NE. She was the daughter of W.C. Scott and Flora (Decker) Scott.
Ibbie graduated from North Platte High School in 1938, and went on to Denver, CO for her B.S. degree. She married William "Bill" Majors at the First United Methodist Church in North Platte on February 14, 1941 and together they had three sons. The family moved to "Meadowbrook Farm" in North Platte in 1947. After retirement, Ibbie and Bill enjoyed winters in Casa Grande, AZ until Bill's passing in 2003. Ibbie was a member of First Presbyterian Church in North Platte, NE Farm Women, American Legion Auxiliary, volunteered in the North Platte Canteen during WWII and was a charter member of the Neighborhood Club. She served as regent of the Sioux Lookout Chapter of the D.A.R. (Daughters of the American Revolution) and was very active even up until the time of her passing. She was a life-long Republican and enjoyed playing card games. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, homemaker, and farm wife.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bill, great granddaughter Brittney, niece Sharon Eskelson, brother Harry (Scott) and sisters, Shirley (Scott) Day and Thelma (Scott) Wainz.
She is survived by her sons, William (Joyce) Majors of OK, Robert (Colleen) Majors of North Platte, and Bruce (Deb) Majors of CO; grandchildren, Matt, Lori, Russell, Pat, Brooks, Melody, and Maddie; 14 great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
A celebration of Ibbie's life will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Friday April 26, 2024 at First Presbyterian Church with Pastor Emily McCreery officiating. Lunch will follow the service in the fellowship hall of the church. Inurnment and graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday April 26th at Fort McPherson National Veterans Cemetery in Maxwell, Nebraska. Memorials are suggested to be made to the NE Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired (https://ncbvi.nebraska.gov/).
