James Lee Dewey, age 61, of North Platte, NE died September 18, 2026 in Imperial, NE. He was born on January 20, 1965 in North Platte to Marvin and Janice (Whipple) Dewey.

James graduated from North Platte High School in 1983 and entered the US Navy right after. He served as a SeeBee and traveled all over the world. After he was discharged, he returned to North Platte where he worked as a mechanic and as a machinist at UPRR.

He loved going for drives and riding his Harley trike. He will be remembered as a loving and dedicated father, brother, and son.

Survivors include his daughter, Jamie (Robert) Beam of North Platte; sister, Kandi (Mark) Bailey of North Platte; nieces and nephews, Brent Bailey of Omaha, Landon (Chelsea) Bailey of Bennington, NE, and Jordan Bailey of Holdrege; great nieces and nephews, Ansel, Weslyn, Layton, Wyatt, Jaci, and Karsyn; uncle and aunt Tom (Jeanne) Whipple of Dallas, SD; his loving cat, Melly; and other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and infant sister, Tammy Jo; a nephew Garrett; grandparents, Marge and Eau Claire Dewey, Karl and Margaret Whipple; and aunts and uncles, Sue House and Ed and Marlene Myers. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday September 25, 2026 at the Church of Christ on Walker Road. Burial will be at Fort McPherson National Cemetery with military honors.  The family requests that red, white or blue be worn.
