James L. Gray, 76, of Sutherland passed away January 11, 2021 at home.

He was born to LeRoy and Alice (Bussard) Gray on June 3, 1944 in Scottsbluff, NE. He attended Chase County Schools and graduated with the class of 1962.

James was married to Roberta on August 23, 1970 in North Platte, NE, combining families and uniting all of the children, Jim, Bryan, LeRoy, Timothy, Colleen, Rebecca and Paul, into one family.

He entered the United States Army and went to school at Mid Plains graduating with a degree in HVAC. James worked for Pepsi for many years before hiring on at the Rail Road in 1994.

James enjoyed fishing and camping and was an avid Nebraska Huskers Fan.  You could often find him enjoying his favorite John Wayne western movies.

He is Survived by wife; Roberta: children, Jim (Sue) Gray, Bryan (Christine) Herrick, LeRoy Gray, Colleen  (Mike) McNeil, Rebecca Gray, and Paul Gray: sister, Janet (Roger) Skinner; brothers, John (Brenda) Gray, Jeff (Anna) Gray; many grandchildren, great- grandchildren and other family.

James is preceded in death by his parents; son, Timothy Gray; sisters, Judy Redinger and Jeannie Gray.

Memorials are to be made to the family to be designated at a later date.

Grave side services will be at 2:00p.m. on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Riverside Cemetery in Hershey, NE with Pastor Gary Smith officiating. . Book signing will be from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at Carpenter Memorial Chapel. Carpenter Memorial Chapel is entrusted with arrangements.
