James Strickland, 77 of North Platte, Nebraska passed away on February 21, 2021 at Good Samaritan in Ravenna, NE. He was born on October 18, 1943 in Quincey, CA to Leland and LaDore Strickland and grew up on a farm milking cows in Placerville, CA.

He was united in marriage to Anne Race in 1963 and the couple lived in Santa Fe Springs, CA. They later divorced.

James entered the United States Navy in 1960, serving during Vietnam with7 ^th fleet. He was Honorably Discharged in 1964.

He was a member of pit crew for NASCAR on dirt track circuit in 1970 through1980.

James enjoyed reading books, watching old western movies, race cars, wrestling and driving dirt roads.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Karen; and brother, Buddy.

James is survived his son, James (Michelle) Strickland of North Platte; daughter, Lynda (Benny) Stokes if NM; sister, Audoria Wheeler; grandsons, Michael Buckmaster of CA, and AJ Stocks of NM; granddaughters, Melissa (Alex) Gonzalez of North Platte, Sara Murphy of North Platte, Jessica (James) Klopfenstein and 17 great grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the family to be designated at a later date.
