Joan E. Lyons, 61, of North Platte, passed peacefully away May 28, 2019. She was born November 2, 1957 to Ivan and Shirley (Milbrodt) Beran at Omaha, NE. She graduated from St. Patrick's Catholic School with the class of "76". On July 25, 1986, she was united in marriage to Dennis E. Lyons.
Joan was a member of St. Patrick's Church, Eagles and Moose Club. She was a long time member of the VFW Auxiliary where she held the offices of President and District President along with various other positions. A forty-two year member of the North Platte Women's Bowling Association along with serving on their board for 15 years. She was an avid Cornhusker fan especially she loved the volleyball and football teams. Fishing was a favorite pastime. She also crocheted items for St. Patrick's Parish and the Callahan Cancer Center. Joan was employed and managed Starting Gate Liquors for a number of years.
She is survived by her husband, Dennis of North Platte; son, Josh Beran; daughter, Wendy Lyons; sister, Susan (Tim) Keith; brothers, David (Gayle) Beran and Thomas (Elsa) Beran; many nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Ivan and Shirley Beran; sister, Ruth Cox; brother-in-law, Tim Keith; and a niece, Michelle Ryan.

Family will be receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m. with the Rosary to follow at 7 p.m. Sunday, June 2, 2019 at Carpenter Memorial Chapel. Mass of Christian burial will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 3, 2019 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with the Reverend Matthew Nash as celebrant. Burial will be at Ft. McPherson National Cemetery. Carpenter Memorial Chapel is in care of arrangements.
