Obituary

John Joseph Kirchner, 73, of North Platte passed away June 10, 2013 at his home. John was born to Joe J. and Minnie (Zwiener) Kirchner on March 5, 1940 at Bellwood, Nebraska. He graduated in 1958 from St. Agnes Academy in Alliance and attended Chadron State College. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1962-1966 and served on the USS Roosevelt. John returned to Alliance and worked for Faber Electric and later moved to North Platte in 1968 and was involved with Snell Electric. John was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, American Legion, Elks, and Nebraska Diplomats. He is survived by two sisters, Norma (Bill) Will of Huron, SD and Meraldeen Hough of Bellwood, NE; numerous nieces, nephews, friends and his Snell Services family. He was preceded by his parents, and three brothers, Harold, Rich and Carroll. Rosary will be 1:30 pm on Friday with Mass of Christian Burial following at 2:00 p.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in North Platte. Graveside services will be Saturday at 10:00 am MT at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Alliance with military honors. Memorials are suggested to donor's choice or St. Agnes Foundation. Visitation will be Thursday from 9 to 8 p.m. at Carpenter Memorial Chapel. Online condolences may be shared at www.carpentermemorial.com. Celebration of Life at the Westside Events Center, in Alliance, following committal service. Carpenter Memorial Chapel in North Platte is in charge of arrangements.
