John Ronald Nutter, 89, of North Platte, NE, passed away at his home on Monday, January 2, 2023.
John was born March 20, 1933 in Gibbon to Harold K. Nutter and Josephine Marie (Scott) Nutter. John grew up and graduated from Gibbon High School. John married Ruby Pauline Loewenstein October 21,1951. John enlisted in the Air Force in 1951 with an honorable discharge in 1956. John and Ruby farmed in Gibbon until 1972 after leaving the farm John and Ruby moved to North Platte. John was employed by the Union Pacific until his retirement. John was a long time American Legion Member and a Mason for over 50 years.
John is survived by his sons, Gregory (Denise) Nutter and Michael Nutter of North Platte; grandchildren, Dawn (James) Miller, Dustee Renschler, Samantha Nutter, Chance (Cheryl) Nutter and Seth (Elizabeth Knehans) Nutter; eleven great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren; one sister, Gennevieve Robb; one sister-in-law, Betty Loewenstein; and numerous nieces and nephews
John was preceded in death by his wife Ruby, his parents, in laws Rupert Loewenstein, Zoe (Loewenstein) Wakefield and Borden Wakefield, brothers and sisters in law Richard and Grace Nutter, Richard and Nancy Bolin, Gordon Robb, Ralph and Hilda Loewenstein, Elbert Loewenstein, and several nieces and nephews.
In keeping with John's wishes, cremation was chosen. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on March 20, 2023, at First Baptist Church with Pastor Clint Walker officiating. Inurnment with military honors will follow at Fort McPherson National Veterans Cemetery near Maxwell. Memorial book will be available to sign on Friday, March 17th from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Carpenter Memorial Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family for later designation. Carpenter Memorial Chapel has been entrusted with the arrangements.
