Josephene Ann (Gordon) Larsen, 75, of North Platte, passed away on June 3, 2016 at Great Plains Health.
Jo was born, July 17, 1940 in Callaway, NE to Archie and Erma (Wise) Gordon. She attended grade school in Gandy, Banner Country School and graduated high school in Stapleton with the Class of 1958.
Jo was the oldest of five children: Charlotte Hoatson, Robert Gordon, Larry Gordon and Sherrie Gordon.
Jo met her husband, Ken Larsen, while attending college at Kearney State College in early 1961 while Ken was home on leave from the Marines.
They were married on February 4, 1962 in Stapleton, NE.
The two started their family together in North Platte NE where there son Gordon was born. The early years of their marriage would see them moving to Amarillo, Texas and then to Springfield, Missouri, where their daughter Lora was born. From here they would live in Lincoln and Omaha prior to moving back to North Platte to settle and make their permanent home in 1975.
Jo and Ken started the North Platte Pawn Shop in 1976, where Jo was the book keeper, which she continued to do right up to the time of her death.
Jo's greatest joy was being around her family and being the grandma of Christopher and Savannah Larsen, and Shaylee and Johnny Guethlein. She loved to cook and watch Nebraska volleyball.
Jo was preceded in death by her parents, Archie Gordon, Erma (Wise) Gordon Rupert, her brother Robert Gordon and her husband, Ken Larsen.
Jo is survived by her son Gordon Larsen of North Platte, daughter Lora Guethlein (John) of North Platte, grandchildren, Christopher Larsen of Lincoln, NE, Shaylee Guethlein of Kearney, NE, Johnny Guethlein of North Platte, NE and Savannah Larsen of North Platte, NE. Her sisters, Charlotte Hoatson of Mullen, NE, and Sherrie Gordon of Wellfleet, NE and her brother Larry Gordon of Omaha, NE. Graveside Services will be 2pm Saturday June 11, 2016 with The Reverend Dr. Douglas A. Delp officiating at Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens. Cremation was chosen. Those wanting to sign the memorial book may do so from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm Wednesday through Friday at Carpenter Memorial Chapel, which is in charge of arrangements.
