Kenneth L. Lant, 86, former North Platte businessman, passed away November 8, 2012 at Hilltop Estates in Gothenburg, NE. He was born September 4, 1926 to Bruce and Alice (Duxbury) Lant at Omaha. In 1944, Ken served in the United States Navy, during WWII, until his honorable discharge in 1946. He was united in marriage to Lois Olmsted October 15, 1950, and spent the majority of their married years in North Platte. He was employed by the Nebraska State Patrol for a couple years in the early 50's and really enjoyed it. Ken and Lois owned and operated Ken Lant Insurance Agency in North Platte for many years and served on various boards and committees. He enjoyed many days in the goose pit at Lewellen. He is survived by his daughter, Barb (Glenn) Morton of Lincoln; his sons, Doug (Carol) of Overland Park, KS, and Don (Gaylene) of Columbus; three grandchildren, Megan Morton, Kevin Lant and Jacob Lant. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lois; a brother, Keith; and a sister, Velma Young; and a great niece, Shelly. Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Monday, November 12, 2012 at Carpenter Memorial Chapel. Burial will be at Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens with military honors graveside. Visitation with family receiving friends will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday at Carpenter Memorial Chapel, which is in charge of arrangements.
