Obituary

Kirk Gregory Bodeman, born on August 5, 1956, passed away on April 19, 2026. Known for his warm, personable nature and a faith that was a steady presence throughout his life, he was devoted to his family, dedicated to his work, and deeply proud of his country. That dedication was reflected in his years of service as a police officer and detective, where he worked to protect and serve his community with integrity and care.

After graduating from Hayes Center High School, he began working in agriculture before settling in McCook, Nebraska, where he served as a police officer and detective. He concluded his career as a safety manager for Weathercraft Roofing in North Platte, Nebraska. In each of these roles, his dedication to service and safety reflected the compassion and character at the core of who he was.

Kirk’s passions extended beyond his professional life. While in McCook, he was actively involved in the E-Free Church. He also loved the outdoors and found joy in fishing, hunting, collecting firearms, and flying radio-controlled airplanes.

Kirk is survived by his wife, Liyan, and her son, Pui Fai. He is also survived by his former spouse, Rebecca Bodeman, and their children: Libbi (Brett) Harsh of Kearney, Nebraska, parents of Jaylin, Kaylee, and Austin; Joshua (Amber) Bodeman of North Platte, Nebraska, parents of Cole Bodeman, Noah Sullivan, and Parker Sullivan; and Blake (Laura) Bodeman of Temple, Texas, parents of Amara, Elias, Judah, and Asher.

He is also survived by his siblings: sister Deb Schneider; and brothers Rick (Debra) Bodeman and Jon (Cheri) Bodeman, with whom he shared close family bonds.

Kirk was preceded in death by his son, Derek Bodeman; his brother-in-law, Larry Schneider; his nephew, Riley Schneider; and his parents, Curtis and Wanda Bodeman, whose memories remain deeply cherished.
