Larry J. Asel, 92, of North Platte, formerly of Springfield, Missouri passed away May 10, 2018 at Linden Estates. He was born May 25, 1925 to Carl and Juanita Asel in Hamilton, MO. He served in the US Army during WWII stationed in New Guinea. Larry married Jerre Jean Lyons on August 20, 1949 and from this union, three children were born: Paul, Marlene and Rosalie.
Larry graduated from the University of Kansas with a BS in Civil Engineering in 1950. He joined the Ready-Mixed industry with Stewart Sand & Material Company in Kansas City, MO before joining the Concrete Company of Springfield, MO as a Technical Advisor. He worked ConCo until his retirement. In 1999, he was the recipient of the National Ready-Mixed Concrete Association's Richard D. Gaynor Award.
In 2015, Larry and Jerre moved to North Platte to be closer to their daughter and her family. Larry was passionate about his family, friends and his work. He enjoyed traveling, telling jokes, drinking a glass of scotch, and rooting for the Jayhawks.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jerre; brothers, Bernley and Herb. He is survived by his children, Paul (Karen) Asel, Marlene (Monte) Craig and Rosalie (Eddie) Johnson; grandchildren, Curtis, Holly, Richard and Reese.
Cremation was chosen. Services will be at a later date. Carpenter Memorial Chapel is in care of arrangements.
