Larry Dean Gill was born to Harold and Hilda (Suckstorf) Gill on October 19, 1951. He was one of nine children. Larry attended school at Stapleton and graduated in 1970. He joined the Navy and served from 1971-1975. After serving in the Navy, Larry was hired by the Union Pacific Railroad as a pipefitter and sheet metal worker. He worked for the railroad until health issues caused him to retire in 2005.
Larry married Karen Lee Stoeger on August 12, 1991. They lived in North Platte until 1996 and then moved to Stapleton. He belonged to the VFW. Larry enjoyed playing golf and was proud of his work in building the golf course in Stapleton. In addition to golf, he was an avid Huskers Football fan and supported the Denver Broncos as well. In 2011, Larry and Karen moved to Valentine to be nearer to her family. He attended the Berean Bible Church while living in Valentine. He died on March 31, 2015 at home.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents; Harold James Gill and Hilda Claire Suckstorf Gill, and siblings; Donald, Lila, and Carl. He is survived by his beloved wife, Karen and son, Charles, as well as siblings; Lois Musgrave, Laura Stalnaker, Lloyd (Gwen) Gill, Mary (Steve) Claycomb, Dan (Susie) Gill.
Funeral service for Larry Gill age 63 of Valentine will be held on Monday, April 6 at 10:30 A.M. at Carpenter Memorial Chapel in North Platte. Burial will follow at Ft. McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell. Visitation will be on Thursday at 4:00 PM at Sandoz Chapel of the Pines in Valentine and on Saturday, April 4 from 1 to 5 PM at Carpenter Memorial Chapel in North Platte.
