Leola V. Schrecongost, 85, of Denver, passed away October 8, 2013 at her home. She was born September 8, 1928 to Henry and Bertha (Yanken) Paul in Maxwell, NE, where she also attended school. She married George Schrecongost on November 16, 1946 in Kansas.
Leola was a devoted wife and mother. She enjoyed Bingo, gambling, crafting and helping others, she was always there for others no matter what. Bowling was another pastime that she loved but her true passion in life was spending time with her family and grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Delbert Schrecongost of Denver, Trish (Charlie) Brown of Holdrege, NE, Vonna Schrecongost and Donna Schrecongost, both of Denver and Alberta (Pat) Ward of Laueen, AZ; sister, Henrietta (Joe) Armitage of Norfolk, NE; 15 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Leola is preceded in death by her parents; husband, George, in 2002; son, Mike, in 2000; three brothers, Alfred, Stanley and Charles; two sisters, Evelyn and Leora.
Funeral services will be 10:30 am Friday, October 18, 2013 at Carpenter Memorial Chapel. Burial will be at Ft. McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell. Visitation will be 8:30 am to 8:00 pm Thursday, with the family receiving friends from 5 to 7pm at the funeral home.
