Leslie "Wayne" Davidson, 88 years of age, of Maxwell, passed away on Friday, March 28, 2014 with his family by his side at the Centennial Park Retirement Village. Wayne was born June 23, 1925 in Petersburg, Nebraska to Jesse and Ruth Davidson. He was one of 9 brothers and sisters. He attended St Edward Public School. Wayne enlisted in the Army and was stationed in Alaska during the Korean War. While enlisted Wayne was united in marriage to Chestine "Tootie" Torsen of St Edward, Nebraska on January 15, 1951. After Wayne was discharged from the Army Wayne and Tootie moved to Orleans, Nebraska where they ran Davidson's Tavern and the Circle D Bar for 20 years. After selling the bar in Orleans Wayne continued to work at Harlan Feeder where he rode pens and vet checked cattle until he retired in 1990. During this time Wayne enjoyed roping, rounding up cattle and hunting pheasants with his friends from Kentucky. In 1991, Wayne and Tootie moved to Maxwell, Nebraska where he was partners with his daughter Penny and her husband running the 9 Penny Ranch. During this time he worked at Pawnee Springs Ranch for Steve Boeshart. Wayne also worked at North Platte, Gothenburg, and Lexington sale barns riding pens and sorting cattle. Wayne always loved horses and spent time around cattle, loved hunting, fishing and a good joke. But mostly what he did was gather life-long friends where ever he went. Wayne never knew a stranger and tales of "remember when" brought constant laughter to his hospital room from friends and family who heard of his illness and traveled 100's of miles to celebrate his life and give him comfort. Celebrating Wayne's life are; his wife, Tootie of Maxwell; sister-in-law Lou Davidson of Lincoln, sister Sharon Workman and husband Morris of Plattsmouth; his brothers; Jim Davidson and wife Marie of Overland Park, Kansas, Robert Davidson of Dalton, Georgia and Glen Davidson and wife Ardath of St. Edward; his daughters; Carolyn Kelly and husband Mike of Chapman, Kansas, Penny Miller of Maxwell, and Leslie Hagert and husband Dave of Maxwell. His grandchildren; Mindy McNelis and husband Frankie of Kansas City, Sean McNelis and wife Mikki of Grand Island, Kris Fischer and his wife Tonya of Klamath Falls, Oregon, Darci Kelly of Raytown, Missouri, Chandra Kelly and Alli of Raytown, Missouri, Haley McKee and her husband Luke of Malott, Washington, Tiereny Schneberger and her husband Curtis of Foss Oklahoma, Jennifer Cox and her husband Josh of North Platte, Andrea Wilson and her husband Francis of North Platte; Kasey Whitson and her husband Brock of Thomas, Oklahoma, Dakotah and Tahte Davidson of Thomas, Oklahoma. He also leaves several great grandchildren. Preceded in death by; his parents Jesse and Ruth Davidson; his sisters, Jean Reznor, Janice Getzfird and Lou Getzfird, his brother; Edward Davidson and his son Rusty Davidson. Memorial services for Wayne Davidson will be held on Friday, April 11, 2014 at 10 am at the First Baptist Church in Maxwell Nebraska.
