IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Linda Van
Buren
September 15, 1944 – February 26, 2025
Linda Van Buren was born on September 15, 1944, in North Platte, Nebraska, to Harold and Maureen Van Buren. She attended Cody Grade school and was a very active child. She spent many happy times on her grandma and grandpa Barrett's ranch. When Linda was a junior at North Platte Senior High she and her parents were in a serious car accident, in which both of her legs were broken. Despite a long recovery she graduated with her class in 1962, and went on to complete Cosmetology school. She became an excellent hairdresser in North Platte. She used her artistic talents in hair styling and also made lovely flower arrangements. Linda was known for her sense of humor and her laugh. She loved Elvis Presley, dancing, and cherry mash candy bars. She was loving, kind hearted, and always remembered family members' birthdays with birthday cards every year.
Linda married Jim Hedrick in the mid-sixties. During their 24 years together they welcomed a son, Kelly, to join their family of Jim's children, Angie, Mike, and Paula. She loved being a mom and treasured those times with her family.
Numerous health issues plagued Linda throughout her adult life. As a result, she ultimately lived in an Assisted living facility in Omaha, Nebraska, until 2025, when she was moved to Florence Nursing Care home in Omaha, where she lived until her death on February 26, 2025. She died from dementia. During her good years she continued to be the same loving, caring, and funny person, brightening the home with her laughter. Until her decline she still sent the birthday cards to family and friends.
Survivors include her son Kelly Hedrick, Angie Hunt, Mike Hedrick, Paula Salagovich, and many grandchildren, as well as her Sister, Colleen Anthony, nieces Cathy Andrews, Nancy Allen, Peggy Leppek, and JoLynn's Andrews, in addition to numerous cousins and friends.
A graveside service will be held at Floral Lawns cemetery in North Platte, Nebraska, on Saturday, March15, 2025, at 3:00 pm. Condolences and memorials may be sent to Carpenter Memorial chapel at 1616 West B Street, North Platte, NE, 69101. A gathering of friends and family will be held at Colleen Anthony's home following the service. Carpenter Memorial Chapel is entrusted with arrangements.
