Obituary

Lori Lynn Taylor, age 65, of North Platte, Nebraska, passed away Saturday, October 4, 2025, after a six-and-a-half-year battle with cancer.

Lori was born January 4, 1960, in Omaha, Nebraska, to Ronald E. and Deverda L. (Shepherd) Carman.

While Lori was still young, her family moved to Central City and then later followed her dad to North Platte a few months after he'd began working at the newly-opened diesel shop. She attended North Platte High School, often walking to school and unknowingly following her future husband into the building. After graduating, Lori met Charles "Chuck" Taylor and the two were wed October 24, 1981. To this Union was born their beloved children Matt and Amanda.

Throughout her life, Lori worked a variety of jobs. She worked at Ace Hardware from 1981 to 1987, at Denny's Auto Trim from 1987 to 1990 as an upholsterer, and finally at Walmart for 30 years, all the way from its opening to her diagnosis in 2019. After her diagnosis, Lori put her all into fighting to stay alive and spend time with her family. Though there were many ups and downs, with her family at her side she greeted each new complication with a smile on her face and hopeful soul. After her long battle, she was called to her heavenly home where she can watch over and await reunion with her family.

Lori will be remembered for her love of crafting and making new things. She leaves her family and friends with a collection of hand-painted ceramics and the spoils of many successful auctions. She knew how to fill a home with many memories. She also picked up a love of upholstery from her time at Denny's and offered help to loved ones in that regard. In a similar vein, she was a talented seamstress, making her own wedding dress as well as the bridesmaid and groomsmen outfits for her daughter's wedding and many outfits for her daughter and granddaughter which earned much praise. Above all, she was a loving mother, making sure to make a home where her children could grow into the wonderful adults that kept her smiling till the end.

Those left to cherish Lori's memory are her husband, Charles; her children Matt Taylor of Omaha and Amanda Taylor of North Platte; granddaughter Victoria Taylor of Omaha; brother Eldon (Tammy) Carman of Campbell, NE; sister-in-law Kathryn Taylor of North Platte; brother-in-law Jeffery (LeAnn) Taylor of North Platte; nephew, Larry Farlin of Germany, and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents Deverda and Ronald, parents-in-law Gladys and Wayne Taylor; brother Floyd R. Carman, sister Gail Carman, brother-in-law Michael Taylor, and grandma Elsie Phelps.
