Loveda June Fletcher, age 93, of North Platte, died May 25, 2025 at Great Plains Health.
She was born May 5, 1932 in Norton County, KS to Garrett M. and Hazel Vera (Wright) Bakelaar.
Loveda lived with her parents in Norton, KS, Beaver City, NE, Leadville, CO, Portland, OR, and North Platte.
Loveda graduated from North Platte High School in 1950. She then attended cosmetology school in Omaha.
After graduation, she returned home and married Mark Edward Fletcher, on June 1, 1952. The couple made their home in North Platte, where Loveda operated a beauty salon downtown.
After her parents retired, she bought their grocery store building on "H" Street and transformed it into Loveda's Beauty and Gift Salon. She continued to operate it until her retirement on April 14, 1993.
Loveda was a member of and multi-term president of the National Cosmetology Association.
A cherished and beloved matriarch in her family, she will be greatly missed by all the generations of "kids" she made feel special. Loveda will also be remembered by her many friends in the community, including the ladies in her Water Lilys exercise class at the Rec Center.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. Survivors include numerous cousins and countless friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the North Platte Senior Center or donor's choice. Online condolences and live stream of the service can be found at carpentermemorial.com.
A luncheon will be at St. Patrick's Catholic Church Parish Hall for family and friends at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, May 31, 2025. Inurnment services will be at 2:30 p.m., Saturday at Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens, followed by a memorial service at 4:30 p.m., at Carpenter Memorial Chapel.
The memory and condolences book may be signed at Carpenter Memorial Chapel, which is entrusted with arrangements.
