I, Lowell Keith Fenster, was born the 14th day of August 1938 on a farm 2 miles north and 1 mile east of Hampton Nebraska, to Walter Carl August and Emma Elizabeth Fenster. I moved to a farm 5 ½ miles north of Hampton, as a small child and then moved to a farm 2 miles west and 6 ½ north of Hampton. I lived there until I moved off of the farm in 1958. I attended country school District #81 thru 8th grade and graduated from Hampton High School in 1956. I was a 4-year letterman in track and 3 years in basketball and baseball. I also played basketball until I was 50 years old. I enrolled in Nebraska State Trade School in Milford, Nebraska (now known as Southeast Community College in Milford Nebraska). I graduated in 1958 from the Diesel Program. I worked for Prinie Bros. Equipment in Broken Bow for a short time. I moved to North Platte, Nebraska, in August of 1958 and worked for the State of Nebraska Roads Department as a technician until January of 1960 when I transferred to Lincoln, Nebraska. In 1961, I went to work for Norman Sell at 40th and A street as a technician in a Texaco Service Station. In 1966 I moved to Lincoln Safety and Service also owned by Norman Sell and I was there until 1971 when in August I started teaching Automotive Technology for Mid Plains Community College in North Platte. I retired from teaching from Mid Plains in May 1998 after 27 years.

On June 12, 1960 I married Marlyn Kay Harp in Hampton, Nebraska, at St. Peters Lutheran Church. Marilyn was a graduate of Bryan School of Nursing and Westyn College. She worked for Dr. Blue at Bryan Hospital as well as taught obstetrics. When we moved to North Platte, Marilyn went to work for North Platte Public Schools as a school nurse until her death in July of 1984. Marilyn’s inurnment is at the Aurora, Nebraska, Cemetery. On the 17th of July 1961, Steven Lowell Fenster was born. On February 6th 1966, Robert Charles Fenster was born (named after his great grandfather). When Steve was 10 and Robert (Bob) was 5 we moved to North Platte. I coached both boys in Little League Baseball thru the 12-year-olds. I enjoyed watching both play Legion baseball and basketball at North Platte Senior High and also snow skiing in Colorado and Wyoming. Steve graduated from the senior high in 1984 and from Southeast Community college in 1986 and is now employed in Omaha. On the 1st day of August 1987 I married Willa Hall Booth, who was employed at McDonald State Bank (now known as United Nebraska Bank) until her retirement in May 1998. I then became a stepfather to Dana Booth Howell. Dana graduated from North Platte High School in 1977 and now lives at Lake Maloney just south of North Platte. Dana is self-employed. I have been blessed with 2 great marriages, 2 wonderful boys and a wonderful step daughter. I enjoyed a lot of retirement activities with my wife.

I was a member of 1st Presbyterian Church; a past Lake Malony Golf Course board member and I was on the North Platte Community Playhouse board since 1988. I acted in South Pacific, Oklahoma, Brigadoon and Damn Yankee’s. I enjoyed golf, Nebraska football, basketball and our grandsons Hayden and Marshal. Willa and I enjoyed many UNL home basketball games in Lincoln.

A Celebration of Life will be held that the 1st Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, September 30, 2026 at 1:00PM. The family has chosen a private burial at a later date.
