Obituary
Luella Mae Newell, 101, of North Platte, passed away September 18, 2014 at Linden Court. She was born May 19, 1913 to Earl and Fern (Sexton) Smith at Ravenna, NE. Luella was raised in the Ravenna area. She married Dave Newell and later married Jack Thompson and to this union four children were born, Roberta Jean, Ronald K., Jack and Larry. They lived in California and in 1970 she moved to North Platte. Luella later remarried Dave Newell. She was a member of Bethel Church. She is survived by her son, Larry (Sue) Thompson of Mt. Horeb, WI; two daughters-in-law, Margie Thompson of North Platte and Marilyn Thompson of Waunakee, WI; 10 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren and 19 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Roberta Jean Cleveland; two sons, Ronald K. Thompson and Jack Thompson. Online condolences may be shared at www.carpentermemroial.com. Cremation was chosen. Private family inurnment will be at a later date. Carpenter Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
