Lynn Raymond Sedlacek, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and faithful servant of the Lord, passed away peacefully at home on April 23, 2026, with his beloved wife Beth by his side. Born on September 2, 1953, in Grand Island, Nebraska, Lynn's life was marked by a deep commitment to family, faith, and community, as well as a rich career and a love for the outdoors.
Lynn graduated from St. Patrick’s High School in 1971 before proudly entering the United States Army on March 31, 1971, in Omaha, Nebraska. He honorably served his country until his discharge on April 1, 1974, at Fort Dix, New Jersey. Following his military service, Lynn dedicated 37 years to the Union Pacific Railroad, earning his retirement as a respected conductor. His work ethic and dedication were hallmarks of his professional life.
Never one to rest after retirement, Lynn spent the last 15 years of his life serving at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in North Platte, Nebraska. There, he cared for the church grounds, maintained the interior spaces, and assisted wherever his help was needed, exemplifying his humble and selfless nature. His willingness to serve and his warm spirit touched everyone who knew him.
Lynn’s passion extended beyond his work and church. He cherished hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, and all outdoor activities, reflecting his love for nature and adventurous spirit. Known for his kindness, wisdom, and great attitude, Lynn had a remarkable gift for making everyone feel cared for; he knew no strangers and was always the first to check in on others.
Among his proudest accomplishments, Lynn held his role as a father and husband above all. He is survived by his devoted wife Beth Sedlacek; son Tony (Christina) Sedlacek of Gothenburg; daughter Amber (Brad) McConville of North Platte; and four cherished grandchildren. He also leaves behind a large, loving family including his siblings Stan (Nancy) Sedlacek, Pat (Eileen) Sedlacek, Paula (special friend, Steve Jensen) Sedlacek, Debra Kizer, Lee (Janie) Sedlacek, Gene (Marsha) Sedlacek, Tom (Merry) Sedlacek, Sandra (Brad) Jensen, and Suzy (Niles) Dodson.
Lynn was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Maxine, his sister Gail, and brother-in-law Ray Kizer.
Memorials are suggested to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church for the purchase of a new projector or other needed items. Online condolences may be shared at www.carpentermemorial.com.
The family invites friends and loved ones to honor Lynn’s memory at a Memorial Service to be held on April 29, 2026, beginning at 11:00 AM at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, located at 1400 East E Street, North Platte, NE 69101. The family requests casual dress for this gathering. Following the service, lunch will be provided and inurnment will take place at Fort McPherson National Cemetery at a date to be determined.
Lynn Raymond Sedlacek’s legacy is one of unwavering faith, selfless service, and boundless love. He faced a lengthy battle with pancreatic cancer with courage and grace, leaving behind a profound example of humility and kindness that will forever inspire those who knew him. His presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit endures in the hearts of his family, friends, and community.
