Marian E. Sheffield, 91, of North Platte, NE passed away peacefully on Monday, February 19, 2024 at Great Plains Health Hospital.

She was born on July 24, 1932 in Jackson Twp., Webster County, Iowa the daughter of Marinus and Mareka (Ihnen) Poppen.  She was married to Verlin Max Goforth on November 4, 1950 in Fort Dodge, IA and together they had 8 children.  Verlin died on March 30, 1964 in San Jose, CA. She was married to her 2nd husband Woody M. Sheffield in Grand Island, Nebraska on January 8, 1971 and together had 1 child.  Woody died on January 18, 2018 in North Platte.  Marian loved children and was an in-home day care provider for many years.  She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 1st husband, Verlin; 2nd husband, Woody; daughter and son-in-law, Dianna (Bernard) Fay; and daughter, Barbara Royce.

She is survived by her children, Verlin David Goforth, Justin L. (Cindy) Goforth, Mark E. (Vicki) Goforth, all of North Platte, Edward J. (Sharon) Goforth of Grand Island, NE, Stuart O. Goforth, of Cheyenne, WY,  Kevin J. (Kathy) Goforth of Greeley, CO and Roger D. Sheffield of New Castle, CO; son in law, Dick Royce of Bullhead City, AZ; thirteen grandchildren; twenty two great grandchildren, nine great great grandchildren; other family members and many friends.

Inurnment in the columbarium and graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 26, 2024 at Fort McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell, NE with Pastor Bob Deardoff officiating. Cremation was chosen.  Memorials may be given to the charity of your choice.

Carpenter Memorial Chapel in North Platte has been entrusted with the arrangements.
