Marilyn Jean Cogley, age 84, of North Platte, NE went to meet her Lord on February 8, 2023 at Great Plains Health.
Marilyn was born July 24, 1938 in Erie, Pennsylvania to Raymond and Laura Viard. She graduated from Wesleyville High School in 1956. She worked as a stenographer at Hammermill Paper Company in Erie, Pennsylvania for several years. In 1959, she married Joseph King, Jr. to whom were born a daughter and three sons. In 1974, she married William (Bill) Cogley; they celebrated their 41st anniversary in 2015. The family moved to North Platte in 1976. Marilyn and Bill also lived for 13 years in Omaha, NE and 2 years in South Lyon, Michigan. Marilyn was a member of the Methodist Church for many years and more recently a member of the First Baptist Church of North Platte. She loved to play bridge, enjoyed music, golfing, fishing, splash classes at the NP Rec. Center, many Christian groups and Bible studies.
She leaves behind her daughter, Renae (Irv) Hiatt, 3 sons, Tom (Darcy) King and Kenny (Kelli) King, Jerry (Ingrid) King all of North Platte; 14 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, her sister, Karen Pistner of Erie, Pennsylvania, her sister in law Marcia (Paul) Gagnon of Troy, New York and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bill, and her in laws.
Funeral services will be at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 12, 2023 at First Baptist Church of North Platte with Rev. Clint Walker officiating. Visitation with the family receiving friends will be from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 11th at Carpenter Memorial Chapel, which has been entrusted with the arrangements.
A special thank you to the caregivers at Linden Court and Great Plains Health. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the church or KJLT.
