Mark E. Fletcher, 97, of North Platte, NE passed away on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at Linden Court.

He was born on April 3, 1927 in North Platte, NE the son of Roy Raymond and Lola Bell (Hill) Fletcher.  Mark was married on June 1, 1952 to Loveda Bakelaar at her parents home in North Platte.  He worked at Leo's Flowers, the Paramont Theater as a projectionist, and as a manager at Day Milling Co. for several years.  He was hired on at the Union Pacific Railroad and worked as a fireman and oiler until his retirement on July 6, 1990.  He loved music and playing his guitar.  Mark grew up with Hadley Barrett and had the opportunity to play his guitar with him and the Westerners band.  He was one of the original members of the Westerners.  He enjoyed flower gardening, especially his roses, family photography, traveling, and crossword puzzles.  He was an excellent bookkeeper and helped his wife with her beauty salon books and taxes. Mark was a coin collector, and an avid reader, reading three papers per day.  He was a member of the ELKS club.

Left to cherish Mark's memory are his wife of 72 years, Loveda; numerous cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Lola; and by a sister, Ruth Dreher.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 24, 2024 at Carpenter Memorial Chapel.  Inurnment will follow in Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens.  Visitation and viewing will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 22nd at Carpenter Memorial Chapel, which has been entrusted with the arrangements.
