Obituary

Martin Charles Piskorski was born on December 30, 1928 in Ord, NE to Frank and Gertrude Piskorski. Martin was the fourth child of ten children. He graduated from Ord High School. He was in the Air Force from 1948-1953 during the Korean War being stationed at El Paso, TX, Cheyenne, WY, and Selfridge, MI. While at Selfridge, he met Edna Mae Johson from Ayr, NE, who was also in the Air Force. They were married on April 23, 1950. They had six children; Cynthia, Michael, Teresa, Anne, Martina, and Lisa. After honorable discharges from the service, they returned to Nebraska. They lived in Ord briefly before settling in Kearney, NE where Martin attended college attaining a degree in Architecture. In 1963, they moved and made their home in North Platte, NE. Martin worked at architecture firms until buying Musgrove Construction with his partner, Harry Norman. They changed their business name to General Constructors and later adding North Platte Plumbing to their operation. Edna worked in the home until the kids were older and she obtained a cosmetology license. She died on November 7, 1983. Martin was blessed to find love again when meeting Joyce Berg in a bereavement group. They married on August 20, 1988. They were happily married for 37 years until Joyce's death on November 23, 2025.

Martin also had a great singing voice and loved to sing at church or anywhere as those around him would attest to. Through his many years, Martin enjoyed hunting, golfing, Nebraska Cornhusker football, and he especially loved camping and fishing with family. He had wonderful friends for whom he cared for very much. He loved his every Friday pitch game with the guys at Larry's Barber Shop. He loved attending Joyce's and his children's and grandchildren's events and seeing their accomplishments. He was proud of them all. He was a devoted husband, father, grandpa and friend.

Throughout his life, Martin was always a busy guy with his love and dedication to his family, work, and the betterment of the North Platte community. He was involved with:

Knights of Columbus 4th Degree

Remodeling of the St. Patrick's Catholic church and building of the parish hall

A founding member of the Habitat for Humanity

Hospice volunteer for 15 years

Member of the Lyons Club doing humanitarian services in the community

Helped with the North Platte Heritage Museum

Volunteered with the North Platte Crime Stoppers

Donated blood regularly throughout his adult life to the American Red Cross

A member of the Legion of Mary

A part of the RCIA

Involved in Cursillos

Had a coffee and prayer group at McDaid on Sunday mornings

Helped with the remodel of the old McDaid school for a youth center, religious ed, and retreats

Surviving are his children Cynthia (Michael) Dunbar of Taylor, NE, Michael (Renee') Piskorski of Cheyenne, WY, Teresa (Martin) Mischke, of Cheyenne, WY, Anne Miller of Pocatello, ID, Martina Piskorski of North Platte, NE, and Lisa Piskorski of North Platte, NE. Joyce's sons, Larry (Julie) Buck of Charlotte, NC, and Jeff Buck of Leavenworth, KS. Twelve grandchildren: Marcus (Kris) Dunbar, Catherine (Will) Pack, David (Tara) Dunbar, Kirsty Dunbar, Sarah Mischke, Niles Mischke, Tess (Andrew) Keefe, Kyle (Madlin) Miller, Jeffery (Melissa) Miller, Erin Miller, Daniel Piskorski, Ayla Buck (Evan Rivera), James (Rebecca) Buck, Trevor Buck and Cody Buck. Also, fourteen great grandchildren: Kelsie and Ian Dunbar, Noah and Jase Pack, Camden, Mason, Benton, and Hudson Dunbar, Beau and Aria Keefe, Isabel and Liam Miller, Isla Miller and Sarah Buck.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his two wives, Edna Piskorski and Joyce Piskorski, his brothers, Richard, Earnest, Edward, John, Frank, George, and Thomas Piskorski and sisters Dorothy Butts and Kathryn Turek.

Memorial donations in Martin's name can be made to Habitat for Humanity, St. Patrick's Catholic church, or St. Patrick's Catholic Schools that are all in North Platte, NE. Carpenter Memorial Chapel has been entrusted with arrangements.
