Mary "Dean" V. Dow, 81, of North Platte, NE passed away on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at Great Plains Health.
She was born on September 9, 1939 at Whiteville, LA to Leo and Alice (Fontenot) McDaniel. On March 6, 1959 she was united in marriage to Duane Dow, after which they made their home in Alma, NE and were blessed with four children: Theresa, Mark, Karen and Alice.
Mary loved all animals, especially her cats and little dogs, Bear and Bella. She enjoyed reading Early American History, loved dancing, watching "The Old Tele," and drinking lots of coffee. Most of all she loved God, her family and Louisiana.
She was a past member of St. Josephs Catholic Church in Alma before moving to North Platte.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Duane; one daughter, Karen; her parents; five sisters, and, Effie Champagne, Helen Farrish, Ruth Fontenot, Theresa Nell Millang, and infant sister, Ellen Jane; four brothers, Ray McDaniel, Roy McDaniel, Hubert McDaniel and Nelan McDaniel; and their spouses.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children and their spouses, Theresa (Jack) Weaver of North Platte, Mark Dow of Council Bluffs, IA and Alice (Roger) Olson of North Platte; grandchildren, Jason (Linsey) Weaver, Joshua (Nicole) Weaver, Tara Foster, Megan Dow and significant other Steve, Kristi (Jordan) Robinson and Amanda Dow and significant other Juan; great grandchildren, Rilynn, Camden, Briley, Jackson, Jovie, Kinley, Kayden, Kane, Christopher Parker, Logan, Paisley, Connor, Henry, Xavier, Mariella, Yuliana and Aubriella; sisters-in-law, Elma Jean Waggoner and Maxine Dow; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, May 24, 2021 at Carpenter Memorial Chapel with The Reverend Vidya Sagar Arikotla celebrating. Rosary will be prior to the service at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be at the Alma Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. following the service. Book signing will be from 12:00 to 7:00 p.m. with family receiving friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Sunday, May 23, 2021 at Carpenter Memorial Chapel.
