Mildred Jean Welsh, 89, departed this earth on February 3rd, 2018 at Pioneer Memorial Nursing Home in Mullen with God's grace and peace.
Mildred, (Mac) was born the 8th child of 9 children on April 18, 1928, on a farm west of Wellfleet, to Stephen and Fairy McDermott.
Mac married George Mason Welsh, Sr. on December 4th, 1948 and celebrated 69 years of marriage.
She worked for the Bell Telephone Company in four cities including Wellfleet, where she co-owned the Bell Telephone Company. Her office was a room in their home with a switchboard and handheld pay phone.
Mac dedicated her life to her family while operating her own daycare, also caring for foster and disabled children; many of them calling her "Mom" because she felt like a mother to them.
Working at Memorial Hospital in the Newborn Nursery was a dream-come-true for Mac. She was especially gifted with the care of babies and children, loving them well.
Being a Cub Scout Den Mother brought love, laughter and creativity to the home. She served the community in many other ways through adulthood.
She was equally good with the elderly and sought to know every resident while working at the Curtis Nursing Home.
Mac was a member of the North Platte American Legion Auxiliary.
Above all, Mildred Jean McDermott Welsh loved Jesus Christ.
