Obituary

Norma E. Karre, 82, of Hayes Center, passed away May 16, 2015 at Great Plains Health. She was born December 24, 1932 to Dewey and Ethel (Bodell) McConnell at Hershey, NE. Norma graduated from Hershey High School in 1950 and later was united in marriage to Robert W. Karre on September 30, 1951. They lived and ranched near Dickens until 1953, at which time they moved to rural Hayes County where they spent their life and raised their family. She was a member of the Union Congregational United Church of Christ. Norma enjoyed gardening, crafts, sewing, polka dancing, volunteering for many groups and extensions, and loved attending her children's and grandchildren's sporting events and activities. She is survived by her husband, Robert W. Karre of Hayes Center; children, Douglas E. (Julie) Karre of McCook, Larry D. (Jeannie) Karre of Cozad, Marlene K. (Mick) Cox of Hayes Center and Janet L. (Barry) Deaver of North Platte; her brother, Jack (Frances) McConnell of Lewellen; 18 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; and many other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents; a half-brother, Richard Spry; and a brother-in-law, Herbert Karre. Online condolences may be shared at www.carpentermemorial.com. A memorial has been established in her memory. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at Union Congregation United Church of Christ in Hayes Center. Burial will be at the Hayes Center Cemetery. Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Carpenter Memorial Chapel in North Platte, which is in charge of arrangements.
