"Dick" Shultz

Richard Kenneth "Dick" Shultz, age 89, of North Platte, NE passed away at his home Saturday, May 19, 2018. He was born December 11, 1928 to Kenneth Eli and Helen Elizabeth (Runner) Shultz in Comstock, NE. Dick was raised in and around Custer County and graduated from Broken Bow High School in 1946. A World War II veteran, he joined the Army Air Corp in 1946. After his discharge in 1949 he married Patty Lou Prowett on March 26, 1950 in North Platte. Dick and Pat were blessed with 9 children. Elizabeth (Gary) Vedder of North Platte, Richard (Elizabeth) Shultz of Houston, TX, William (Cynthia) Shultz of Phoenix, AZ, Michael (Erin) Shultz, of North Platte, Dee Anna (Duane) Brand, of Casper, WY, Daniel (Cecilia) Shultz, of Council Bluff, IA, Sandra (Robert) Patterson of Sacramento, CA, Pamela (Dan) Miller, of North Platte, and John (Katherine) Shultz of North Platte, 23 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Shirley and Bonnie and his beloved granddaughter, Missy. Dick worked for several years as a salesman for Colgate Palmolive Company, manager of Pats Bootery, later parts manager for Cornhusker Tractor and Equipment and Nebraska Tractor. Mr. Shultz was a past member of the Jaycees and a little league baseball coach. He was an active member of the Bethel Evangelical Church. He loved his family, gardening and was an excellent cook and collected recipes to pass along to others. Celebration of life will be 10:00 am Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at the Bethel Church with Noah Palmer officiating. Inurnment will be at Ft. McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell with military honors. Online condolences may be shared at www.carpentermemorial.com . Those wishing to sign the memorial book may do so from 9am to 5 pm at Carpenter Memorial Chapel which is in care of arrangements.
