Robert Dean Bailey, age 91, of Omaha and formerly of North Platte, passed away February 27, 2018 at Omaha, NE. He was born in Lexington, NE to Louise Caroline (Weiland) and Everett Thomas Bailey. Bob graduated from Lexington High School in 1943. He started his career at the Union Pacific Railroad after High School, but enlisted in the United States Army serving his country from 1944-1946 in the Philipines and Korea as a marksman. Returning home, he resumed his career with UPRR. He married Imogene Miller in 1949 and they were blessed with two sons, Steven and Douglas. Bob took great pride in his family and home. He loved growing beautiful roses and flowers and took immaculate care of his lawn. Bob was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith and was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church (along with Imogene), serving in leadership positions, for many years. His personal relationship with Jesus Christ as his Savior and Lord formed the guiding principles of his life. He completed the Kennedy Evangelism course and became a Stephen's Minister at the age of 79. He shared his Faith openly with others, especially the residents and caregivers at his assisted living facility towards the end of his life. Bob is survived by son Dr. Steven (Diane) Bailey of Waterloo, NE, Grandchildren Dr. Jennifer (Todd) Lundberg of Houston, TX and Dr. Jocelyn Bailey of Norfolk, NE and great grandson Owen Michael Lundberg; one brother Rodney Bailey of Lexington, NE and many nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be 3:00 pm Friday, March 16, 2018 at Ft. McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.
