Robert G. ""Punk"" Thompson, 68, of North Platte, passed away April 23, 2013 at Great Plains Regional Medical Center. He was born to Ella Idona at St. Mary Hospital in North Platte, Nebraska on November 25, 1944. On June 17, 1967 he married Phyllis E. Simants at North Platte. Robert worked at the Holiday Inn and later hired out at UPRR, retiring as a brakeman. He enjoyed coin collecting and was an avid reader. Robert was a loving father and grandfather who will be greatly missed. He is survived by his daughter, Melaine Thompson; a son, Bradley (Jessie) Thompson, both of North Platte; four grandchildren, Tifaine, Jacob, Kandice and Talon; one brother, Vernon (Linda) Thompson of Hershey, NE and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Phyllis.
A memorial has been established in his memory. Online condolences may be shared at www.carpentermemorial.com. Cremation was chosen. There will be a private family service. Those wishing to sign the register book may do so from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday and Friday at Carpenter Memorial Chapel, which is in charge of arrangements.
